I like to have a rough map with large plot points in place that I can play with and work on when I reach them so that I don't get lost and can keep control of continuity, but yeah...

*whistles* i like to plan things out in advance in my head... but never too far cuz i get bored if i know too much or in too much detail..... but postit notes are indeed a good plan.... i guess i'm just lazy... *grins*

Yes, post-it notes. I don't like to highlight books that aren't text books, so I just slapped a ton of post-it notes through the series for various things that I wanted to look up. And yes, this latest chapter topped it over at 901, exactly.

That's an interesting idea, exploring the original purpose of the universe now that the division is healed. We only see the end of the division and get told that the purpose is now going to go on as it should have before it happened. That might be neat if you can really make it work. If you set it in the Eddings world, though, you'll want to post-it note the hell out of your set of books so you can keep track of places, people, things, and events. I have a good sense in the books to be able to open to pretty much anything I am looking for, but I get terribly distracted and read sections instead of look for what I need. That's why I post-it note like crazy.

And hmm, I think with the addition of this latest chapter, I'm nearing 900 pages in total on this story. Oi. That's a lot!

that makes a lot of sense... thanks for explaining it to me ^_^... in my crossover thingy i want to use juvenile orion characters in david eddings story but after the mallorean takes place. theoretically, the division of the universe has been healed by the end of the mallorean, but there's still the purpose of the universe to be decided. the universe came into being with a purpose and so i want to explore one aspect of the total purpose, which, conveniently enough for me, shall take place on the same area of land as erm.... david eddings stuff...... i have about three pages so far....... *grins*

I basically kept the enter Belgariad as it was written in terms of storyline, and chopped the Malloreon up, taking what I liked and throwing away what I didn't. Seers set my teeth on edge, and I didn't want to struggle with how I was going to get a pair of demons to Kell if that's a destination they had to make. That, and as far as my story goes, Zandramas and the whole abduction of Geran never happened. I have the villian from Inuyasha to use from the crossover, anyways, so yeah.

i totally believe it... i kept trying to figure out where your story was in the david eddings plot and couldn't figure out how you were working it with the mallorean..... thanks for the advice... ^_^
